





Veterinarians
All people working as veterinarians in New Zealand must by law (Veterinarians Act 2005) be registered with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand and hold a current practising certificate.

Other functions of Council include:
- Provision of advice to government and to University councils
- Development of policy and procedures to implement the Veterinarians Act e.g. on the recognition of universities, degree training programmes and assessment programmes and recognition of specialist branches of veterinary practice
- Liaison with Australian and other overseas veterinary registration bodies
